City Receives Donation of 24 +/- Acres from Douglas Holdings, LLC.
The City of Douglas has accepted donation of 24+/- acres of land from brothers Art and Rob Paterson (Douglas Holdings, LLC). The unimproved land is platted into 91 residential lots and has a fair market value of $569,154. The donation enables the City of Douglas, as owner, to complete connections of S. Windriver Drive and Pearson Street.
The donated land sits west of the Platte River, between Flicker Street and W. Richards Street. The property is bordered by residential housing and will enable infill development to meet the housing demands identified in the 2019 Housing Study. The land donation coincides with the City Council’s strategic plan goals to focus on development potentials, specifically Meadow Acres, as well as to work toward abundant, affordable housing and transportation connectivity.
“It is very exciting for the City to receive such a wonderful donation of land that will contribute positively to the future development of our community. On behalf of my City Council colleagues, I would like to thank the Paterson brothers for this generous donation which provides the opportunity to further the goals of the Council and address community needs through the planned use of the land.” said Mayor Rene’ Kemper.
No development decisions have been considered and Council has committed to an open process prior to any final development decisions. The City anticipates releasing a request for qualifications (RFQ) for a development partner within the next month.
