Community Service - Animal Control Officer


This position is staffed by one full time and one part time civilian employee and falls under the direction of the Support Services Lieutenant.

Community Safety

Many Douglas residents are animal owners and the Douglas Police Department wants to ensure the safety of these pets as well as our citizens.

City licenses are required for dogs and cats within City limits. Licenses are provided free of charge and can be obtained with proof of current rabies vaccination at the Douglas Police Department. City licenses enable the safe return of your pet in the event that your pet becomes lost or escapes. Pets that cannot be returned home must be impounded at the animal shelter.

Additional Duties

Additional duties handled by the City of Douglas Community Service Officer include monitoring abandoned / unlicensed vehicles, VIN inspections, and found property reports.
