City of Douglas Appoints New Administrator
The City of Douglas welcomes their new City Administrator, J. D. Cox. The City of Douglas approved his contract at their regularly scheduled city council meeting on May 9, 2022, and he officially joined staff on May 19, 2022.
J. D. is an ICMA credentialed manager and brings over 24 years of municipal experience with him to the City. Prior to joining the City of Douglas, Mr. Cox worked the past year as an independent consultant for local governments. J. D. and his wife Tonya will be celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary this year and have three grown children in Florida and Wisconsin. During his city management career, J. D. has served as chief administrative officer of several cities including Longwood, FL; Bethany, OK; and Alliance, NE.
J. D. believes that Douglas is an idyllic community with tremendous potential and is enthusiastic about getting to know and serve the members of our community. “Tonya and I wish to make Douglas our forever home,” he said. J. D. believes in great community relationships, fostering healthy organizations where team/work-family environments are built and innovation thrives.
J. D. has been a credentialed manager with ICMA (International City Management Association) since 2014 and an active mentor within the organization. He attended the University of Mississippi where he received his M.B.A. in Business Administration, with a concentration in German, and did his undergraduate studies at the University of Kansas.
The City Council looks forward to working with J. D. and invites the community to reach out and introduce themselves.
