Employment Requirements

Minimum Requirements for Employment

  • Be a United States citizen
  • You must have or be able to obtain a valid Wyoming Driver's License.
  • High school graduate or GED certificate of equivalence
  • Be able to legally possess a firearm under State and Federal law.
  • Any drug use/involvement is subject to review to determine suitability for employment
  • Complete all phases of the hiring process.

Recommended Preparation for Employment

  • Two years college-level work in police science, law enforcement criminology or closely related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preference given to Wyoming POST certified or certifiable officers.

 Necessary Skills and Abilities Include

  • Knowledge of modern law enforcement principles, procedures, techniques and equipment.
  • Ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively and determine the proper course of action.
  • Ability to perform work requiring good physical condition.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Skill in the use and care of firearms and operation of a motor vehicle.
